It’s Sweltering, and it’s always going to be miserably HOT if you live in the South and some parts of the North, so it is imperative to keep your styling cool but stylish. For me, I like to throw on a tank top, some shirts, and maybe a slide. However, I am learning to elevate my wardrobe by going outside my comfort zone and putting some thought into my LEWK. I researched some trending fashions for Summer 2021 and I am in love for the 70s inspirations, color palette, and various patterns to chose from.
1970s Inspirations
Everything in fashion is cyclical and we pretty much bring back recycled odies that were once fashion trends from back in the day. As Summer is upon us, the fashion industry has opted to bring back large frame funky sunglasses, patterned and textured suits, statement camp collar floral prints shirts, and my favorite short shorts. Not just summer 2021, but 70’s inspired clothing has slipped in throughout the seasons for the past five years. Lastly, the Iconic Nike shoes (Waffle Trainer 2 SP) are coming back in style, paired with some short-shorts and a tank- you just might be warped back in time with your parents.

Color Palette
Pastel
Who doesn’t love a good pastel!! This color palette gives you a free openness presence with all the softness you can imagine and brings calmness to the eyes and those who wear it. This palette could be worn as one color or a combination of other pastel colors. Pairing pastel colors with a floral design can attract admirers and hopefully a man or woman of your dreams. In my opinion, pastel yellow really brings out the dark mahogany skin tones that give a shea butter texture. If you are worried about doing much pastel, pick one pastel piece and be brave with your selection. Also, laying could mute the pastel color if you are afraid to try it stand alone. Either dress it up or explore athletic leisure options for everyday wear, do not be frightened and be Brave and live out loud.

Nude
Looking through the magazines, fashion blogs, fashion shows, and social media, I have noticed the trend of nude or earth tones for the spring. From the nude short sets joggers to layered looks in natural brown skin tones. This nude palette selection gives the essence of blackness and brownness. As the Black and Brown communities are quietly celebrated in mainstream America or Globally, it is undeniable that we genuinely are ahead of the curve and the influences are blatantly seen. They may deny us access to represent the fashion industry, but they will steal our styles and creative intellectual properties. Anyway, get into these nude fashions with black models.

Patterns
Babyyyyy, this spring is filled with patterns from butterflies, African prints, twisted geometric, pressed flowers, colorful leopards, and exuberant blooms. These daring pattern iterations are popping up throughout the stores and on your timeline. Pattern prints can be worn altogether or mix and matched. Be adventurous because nothing should be off-limits when pairing patterns together. Embrace funky patterns or customize your design by grabbing fabric at your local fabric store. Grab these patterns before the Summer is over; don’t worry, you have until September 22.

Short Sets
Growing up, I loved a matching short set, and being a slightly older; the sentiment is still the same. Honesty, everyone has been through enough this year from recovering from boiling over racism, financial/economic crisis, and being cramped in the house; we all deserve some comfy clothes to recover in. I am loving this summer trend, and I will probably buy a short summer set in every color and pair them with some vintage tennis shoes, a cute bag, large framed glasses.
